About William A. Callahan
William A. Callahan is professor of international politics and China studies at the University of Manchester, and was co-director of BICC from 2006-2013. His research examines the interplay of ideas, politics and policy and the overlap of domestic and international politics, especially in China. His is author of China Dreams: 20 Visions of the Future (OUP, 2013), China: The Pessoptimist Nation (OUP, 2010), Contingent States: Greater China and Transnational Relations, and co-editor of China Orders the World: Normative Soft Power and Foreign Policy (Johns Hopkins, 2012). He also makes video documentaries about China and Sino-foreign encounters.
