Borders of Migration

This research network  will contribute to the scholarly debates on migration and citizenship in the context of marriage migration to China. It will, in particular, explore the history of marriage migration to China, the changing cultural and social configurations of citizenship regime in China, and their impact on Chinese cultural identity. As part of the network, the members of the network will exchange research visits and organise a workshop comparing marriage migration dynamics to mainland China and Taiwan held at Tunghai University in January 2014. The activities of the network will shed light on how marriage migration challenges and redefines Chinese citizenship and cultural identity.
